LEARN MORE. . .
Eid Al-Fitr, or the Celebration of Breaking the Fast, marks the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is the month of fasting.

Eid Al-Fitr is the celebration that comes at the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of fasting, every day from dawn until sunset. The Islamic Calendar follows the moon and so each year, the dates are shifted forwards by about eleven days in the normal calendar. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, and is followed by Shawal. The first three days of Shawal are the Eid days.

ACC Welcomes Iraqi Refugees

ref

Iraqi refugees Salah Palos and Silvana Mosri arrived to the United States in September. The couple, who was recently married, spent 13 months in Turkey waiting for their papers to enter the U.S. Both called Baghdad home and regretted leaving family and friends in search of freedom and opportunity.

"I am very thankful for the support ACC has provided since we arrived," Palos said. "With their help we are looking forward to starting a new life."

CALC Needs Your Help

calc

The Chaldean American Ladies of Charity's (CALC) storage facility needs your help.

The amount of clothing, furniture and appliances they have been receiving is very overwhelming. With this comes the overwhelming tasks of sorting and organizing. Volunteers are desperately needed to help sort and organize the storage unit. There are only 2-4 volunteers at any given time and they are always the same people. For every 10 bags we sort another 20 are dropped off. The volunteers to date have worked very hard and put in several hours but, if you can spare a couple hours a day it can help us out immensely.

If you can spare any time, volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 9am - 2pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm. Please call CALC office to signup at 248-352- 5018 or email Clair Konja at konja_clair@yahoo.com.
