Tis the Season for Giving: Here's how you can help
During the holiday season ACC provides a variety of opportunities for members of the community to Make a Difference. Individuals interested in helping those in need can donate their time, food, money or clothing -- not just during the holidays, but throughout the year. The holidays are a time for generosity, and donations of all kinds are always welcome. Those wishing to help a family less fortunate please contact Shadia at (248) 559- 1990.

ACC Participates in Health Disparities Conferences

Health and Human Services World Expo
Eastern Michigan University will be conducting their first health care disparities event on Monday, November 12, 2007, from 1pm - 3pm, in 203 Marshall. ACC's Director of Public Health, Monty Fakhouri will present a Snapshot of Public Health Issues in Vulnerable Ethnic and Minority Populations , featuring the Middle East.

On Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 1:40pm ACC's Director of Public Health, Monty Fakhouri is speaking about Health Issues in the Arab American Community at the Wayne State University President's Biennial Conference on Health Disparities.

Recognition of Dedication

ocOakland County Community Mental Health Authority presented ACC with an award of appreciation. ACC was recognized for its dedicated staff and their commitment to help achieve Oakland County's mission of social equality and improved quality of life for those served. Executive Director Dr. Radwan Khoury accepted the award on the organizations behalf.

Council News, Fall 2007

ACC would like to correct a caption that was printed in the Fall issue of its Council News. For the picture on page 3 in top right hand, the caption should read ACC Board Member Helene Habib, Detroit City Council Women Brenda Jones, and ACC Chairman Abe Munfakh at the Clubhouse ribbon cutting.

It is with a great deal of excitement that we invite you to be a supporter of, or attend the Flavors of the Arab World media premier event on December 2nd at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi.

The Rock Financial Showplace - Diamond Room will be the venue for "The Flavors of the Arab World." An evening of music, dance, art, Arab food and the premier of the documentary "Our Arab American Story," which has been in production for eight months. This evening, which is specially sponsored by Toni Wisne Sabina and Steve Sabina of the Epoch Restaurant Group, will enable business leaders and media to come together and celebrate the wonderful Arab culture and contributions they have made to mankind and metro Detroit.

You are receiving this letter and outline as an invitation to be a part of this historical celebration for your Arab community. You will find an outline that will highlight your ability to be recognized as a supporter of the documentary feature, as well as be a part of the "The Flavors of the Arab World" event.
