nolan

ACC and its Board of Directors hosted Mariam Nolan, President of the Community Foundation on August 10, 2006 at ACC’s Recreation & Leadership Center in Detroit. Ms. Nolan shared the benefits of a non-profit organization having an endowment with the Community Foundation. In alignment with ACC the Community Foundation has taken on the phrase Making a Difference. Isa Hasan, Program Director, and Dr. Haifa Fakhouri, President and CEO, thanked Ms. Nolan for her continued support of ACC and there hopes for future collaborations.

The Community Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization governed by a board of 50 volunteer civic leaders. Of the more than 670 community foundations nationwide, the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan is among the top 30 in assets. Gifts to the Community Foundation provide the maximum Michigan and federal charitable deductions allowed by law. The Community Foundation exists in perpetuity to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of southeastern Michigan.

ACC Walking for Women's Cancer

walkTeam ACC will be participating in NAAMA's Annual Walk for Women's Cancer, in partnership with the Karmanos Cancer Center, on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Detroit ZOO. ACC is walking in an effort to raise public support and awareness of women's cancer.

The Walk for Women's Cancer will celebrate those lives saved and the memories of those whose lives were lost to the battle of cancer. This event will allow present cancer survivors, their families and friends, the medical and business communities and the general public to come together and strengthen our fight against cancer.
