Detroit Lions Charities Support ACC Youth Programs

lions

The Detroit Lions Charities awarded a $5000 grant to help strengthen and maintain ACC’s Youth Recreation and Leadership Center while incorporating new enrichment and educational classes. These vital services will benefit the entire community by creating healthy environments for youth and helping parents and youth make good choices. Family violence prevention activities will include guest presentations, mentorship, skill-building classes to develop problem-solving, communication skills as well as individual and family counseling.

ACC’s youth program and other services provide disadvantaged and under-served youth the opportunity to participate in constructive and educational activities to foster potential abilities and talents among youth-at-risk. Services include academic assistance, basic computer skills training, homework tutoring, arts and crafts, parenting education, summer camp, boys’ basketball girls’ dance, health education, health screenings, community outreach, and referrals.

ACC Serving the Community. . . One Client at a Time

rafikWith a judgment for deportation from Immigration court, ACC Behavioral Health case manager Rafik Seifeldin turned his client’s life around by assisting him in overcoming his obstacles. It took Rafik seven years of coordinating services for this case, while keeping all of the client’s benefits and rights intact. Using his resources of attorneys, social service professionals and various agencies, Rafik managed to win the deportation case. Rafik also assisted his client with enrollment in a class to prepare for the citizenship examinations. His client passed the exam with a 90% score, took the oath and was awarded his citizenship certificate in the federal court building. Rafik’s efforts demonstrated perseverance and determination to provide his client with a better life.

ACC’s Behavioral Health Division is a comprehensive community-based, outpatient program committed to providing comprehensive, culturally sensitive behavioral health services that is cost effective, consumer driven and represents high standards of the profession.
