Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Each year, on the third Monday in January, people in the United States pause to honor the life and dreams of Martin Luther King Jr., we remember a powerful voice for the pressing need for peace and the reordering of priorities. He had a vision of a better world, and he spent his life dedicated to making it a reality. And he did, indeed, make the world a better place leaving a legacy of tolerance, equality, and respect.

    In observance of MLK Day
ACC offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2007.

    Celebrating Diversity
    diversity

MLK Day is a special holiday. While holidays are generally meant to give us time to rest and enjoy our friends and families, Martin Luther King Day is meant to be a day ON, not a day off. MLK Day provides a chance for us to explore opportunities in our neighborhood, and get recharged and recommitted to the ideas of peace and justice.

In support of MLK Day, ACC is participating in a Cultural Diversity Day at Hartland High School. ACC will be presenting to over 1800 high school students on tolerance, equality and respect for the Arab World along with other races and cultures.

The Arab American and Chaldean Council (ACC) invites you to support ACC's youth program and join us at the 2007 ACC & Friends Night Out at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, as the Pistons take on the San Antonio Spurs.

As part of Friends Night Out participating youth will have the opportunity to play on the Pistons Championship floor prior to the game, watch the Pistons vs. San Antonio game and will receive a free Pistons fleece blanket!

To join us for Friends Night Out or to be sponsors please call Gus Shihab at (313) 369-3102. All proceeds will benefit ACC’s Youth Recreation & Leadership Center’s youth. Your generous sponsorship enables us to continue to provide services to the underprivileged youth who depend on our educational and enrichment services.
