Preventing and Treating Psychological and Social Problems

THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAM

Our comprehensive, community based outpatient program is proudly accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 1992. This accreditation represents our cost-effective, client-driven and high professional standards. At ACC, we’re committed to the prevention and treatment of psychological and social problems in the Arab-American, Chaldean and mainstream communities. Upon being re-accredited in 2019, our renewed sense of purpose is to improve the quality of life for those who seek our support. Individuals are empowered to tap into their inner potential to become valuable and productive citizens.

Supporting Parents Through Innovative Therapies

THE INFANT MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM

The Infant Mental Health Program is a home based service that provides therapy and support to infants and parents with ongoing mental health and developmental concerns, such as low birth weight and basic failure to thrive. ACC staff conduct weekly in-home visits to provide guidance and support as well as connect families in need to matched community resources. The Infant Mental Health program promotes positive infant-parent interactions, attachment, development, and parental competencies. Our team of professionals work to establish a trusting relationship, nurturing the parent so she may in turn nurture her child.

Each therapist has access to community resources related to basic needs, child care and parent health, safety, and crises resolution. Infant-centered problem solving and decision making skills are a core focus within the context of the parent-infant relationship.

Looking Beyond and in
The Future

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WRAPAROUND PROGRAM

Planning ahead for children is a core philosophy here at ACC. Wraparound is a process designed to create plans of care for youth with emotional or behavioral disabilities through the strength and support of family systems, local doctors and schools. We partner with CPS, special education providers, mental health services, substance abuse programs, and juvenile justice advocates to further this mission.

Faten Bazzi, MS, LLP

MEET THE DIRECTOR

Faten Bazzi Is currently the Director of ACC’s Behavioral Health Program, overseeing a team of over 60 clinical and support professionals.  Faten received both her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Michigan, having graduated with “highest distinction”. She embarked on her career at ACC in 2010 as a clinical therapist within ACC’s Oakland County Clinical site, and began overseeing that site as Clinical Supervisor in 2016. In 2022, she was promoted to Director of the Behavioral Health Department, which gained her recognition as a notable leader in the field by Crain’s Detroit within her first year of leadership. This distinction was predicated on the fact that ACC received its highest score in thirty years from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) under her guidance, as well as securing a two-year federal grant to provide healthcare access, psychoeducational workshops, and emotional wellness services for pregnant and postpartum Afghan refugees. She has devoted her life to the service of the vulnerable, vowing to uplift a client-focused mentality and fostrering a work environment which promotes and allows her team’s many talents to flourish. Asked to share a quote that embodies the principles her career is based on, Faten shared the following from author Kevin Hall – “Your gifts are not about you. Leadership is not about you. Your purpose is not about you. A life of significance is about serving those who need your gifts, your leadership, your purpose”.
