News Title : ACC receives grant for Teen Health Project
News Details : Detroit, MI - January 18, 2008 Detroit Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency [DWCCMHA] awarded ACC, a non profit organization, a $75,000 grant for its Teen Health Project. The Project's goal is to help children and adolescents reach optimum potential of growing into healthy and responsible adolescents and young adults by improving their health status through health promotion and disease prevention interventions. ACC's Teen Health Project serves a community that is racially, ethnically and culturally diverse. This Project serves children and youth ages 9-18 residing in Wayne County served by ACC who are current consumers of mental health services and/or members of the community. The Project's goal will be accomplished through the following activities: health promotion and education dialogues (available to students in English, Arabic and Chaldean), comprehensive health screenings, workshops and educational activities in support of health topics, follow up activities for children who need referrals, and training that support skill building, enhance social skills, improve communication, problem solving, and physical and emotional health decision-making.
